Basically, Haas explains that we are all culprits in the debacle. We&#039;ve become accustomed to living outside of our means for far too long. Sure, there were incentives to do so, but ultimately we must take responsibility for our own precarious financial conditions. Only in this fashion will we be forced to take necessary actions to bring lifestyle expectations in line with reality.

Here&#039;s a piece I wrote that is, admittedly, far more accusatory towards government policy.

In retrospect, I favor a more balanced explanation. Government was only one (though a big one) of the many players that brought the system down.</description>
